Saint Anselm Surprised by NEC

Henniker, NH (February 19, 2011) - Saint Anselm's loss to New England College on Friday puts them at 12-5-0 in the ECAC East Conference, 18-6-0 overall.  Both teams battled through a scoreless first period, but the Hawks dominated the offense by out shooting the Pilgrims 15-3. However, they could not find the back of the net and could not take advantage of the late in the period power play given to them.

NEC scored at the opening of the second period to take a 1-0 lead.  Hawks responded when senior Sarah Ellins (Greeley,Colo.) scored on a pass from Kristen Byrne (Duxbury, Mass.) to tie the game.

The Pilgrims scored their second goal early in the third period and both teams had numerous scoring opportunities, but could not capitalize. Each team had 6 power play opportunities; neither team was successful in converting the opportunities.

Saint Anselm will travel to Castleton State on Saturday, February 20th for their final regular season game.
