Manchester, NH (February 12) – Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, FL) scored two goals and Carley Berry (Danvers, MA) recorded her second shutout of the season as SaintAnselm beat St. Michael's 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Arena.
It was a perfect finish for five Hawk seniors playing their final game at home. Sarah Ellins (Greeley, CO), Kristen Byrne (Duxbury, MA), Alexa Hingston (Charlestown, MA), Jamie Lynn Comrie (Ashburn, VA) and Berry were all honored before the game. Byrne and Hingston also made an impact on the scoresheet with Byrne picking up a goal and an assist, while Hingston recorded a helper as well.
Outstanding freshman Courtney Winters (Swampscott, MA) also had a multi-point afternoon with a power play goal and an assist. The Hawks outshot the Purple Knights 43-15 for the game. Saint Anselm is now 17-0-0 all-time against St. Michael's.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 18-5-0 overall and 12-4-0 in the ECAC East. St. Michael's falls to 4-17-2 overall and 3-11-2 in the ECAC East.
The team finished out the regular season next weekend with road games against New England College and Castleton State. The Hawks face off with the Pilgrims Friday evening in Henniker at 4pm. For more information log on to athletics.anselm.edu.
