Hawks Stung By Yellow Jackets 3-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell to the Yellow Jackets of American International College by a 3-0 score Wednesday evening at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.  With the victory, American International improves to 7-9 overall on the season and to 5-2 within Northeast-10 Conference play.  The Hawks drop their 11th contest of the season and fall to 4-11 overall.  Saint Anselm now possesses a 0-5 conference record.

Saint Anselm was swept in three sets, falling 25-16 and 25-18 in the first two sets and dropping the third and decisive set 27-25.  For the Hawks, Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.) led the attack with 11 kills on the evening.  Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) posted a team-high 25 assists while both Tencza and Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) contributed defensively with 15 kills on the night.

Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) led Saint Anselm with a .269 hitting percentage and added nine kills of her own to the team total of 29.  Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) reached double-digit dig totals for the sixth time on the season.  Kylie Kozlowski (Quincy, Mass.) added two service aces off of the bench.  Lauren Ross (Dracut, Mass.) had a part in three blocks as she leads the team on the season with 31 to her credit.

Three different American International players reached double-digit kills, as Vanessa Ruiz, Taila de Souza and Blair Havron each posted 10 kills.  Ellisha Terry led the Yellow Jackets with 27 helpers and Caitlin Connelly notched 31 digs.  As a team, American International hit .230 with 42 kills and only 13 errors.
