MANCHESTER, N.H. - Freshman Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.) made five saves as the Saint Anselm women's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with Southern Connecticut State University in a snow-shortened affair at Melucci Field on Saturday afternoon in the team's regular-season finale on Senior Day.
The Hawks wrap up their season at 3-10-4 overall, including 3-8-4 in Northeast-10 play, while the Owls improve to 10-4-3, 8-4-3 NE-10.
The game was called in the 79th minute after snowy conditions made the field conditions unplayable.
Senior Jessica Ewald (Smithtown, N.Y.), junior Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.), sophomore Siobhan Flaherty (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Meredith Martin (Victor, N.Y.) each recorded shots on goal, but neither team could get much going.
Southern Connecticut held a 16-9 advantage in shots, including 9-4 in the opening half.
Owls' goalkeeper Jacquelyn Fede stopped four shots in total.
This marked the final career game for seniors Ewald, Teresa Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.), Christine Otey (Southborough, Mass.), Hillary Sanacore (Wakefield, R.I.) and Jillian DaSilva (East Taunton, Mass.).
