Field Hockey Blanked at Limestone, 3-0

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Bernice Jere scored a pair of goals in the first nine minutes to lift Limestone College past the Saint Anselm College field hockey team, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Timken Center.

The Hawks fall to 6-11 on the season, while the Saints improve to 8-4.

Jere struck just 59 seconds into the game when she redirected Rachel Goromonzi's shot into the right side of the goal to make it 1-0.

Jere made it 2-0 at the 8:39 mark when she made good on her breakaway opportunity by beating freshman goalkeeper Jessica Snow (Shrewsbury, Mass.).

The contest stayed that way until the 56th minute when Abby Rummel scored off a rebound in front to make it 3-0.

Limestone held a 16-4 shot advantage, including 8-1 in the opening stanza.

Snow made five saves in her first full collegiate game, while Lindsay Hinton did not see a shot in 61:25 of action for the Saints. Rachael Sanders made one save in the final 8:35.

The Hawks wrap up their season at Limestone on Sunday, Oct. 23 when they take on Bellarmine University at noon.
