Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Byrne Nets Game Winner in 2-1 Victory

WATERVILLE, Maine (January 4) --  Kristen Byrne (Duxbury, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal in the third period for the Saint Anselm women's ice hockey  team in a 2-1 over Colby College on Tuesday night. The win improves the Hawks record to 7-3 overall.

Sarah Ellins (Greeley, Colo.) scored the first goal of the game in the opening period on a pass from Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.), which was the only goal of the first 20 minutes.

Meredith Reynolds (Marion, Mass.) scored the lone goal for Colby in the second period to knot the game at 1-1. Tasha Rivard (Newbury, Mass.) and Hannah O'Brien (Wolfeboro Falls, N.H.) assisted on the goal.

Byrne's goal was her third of the season.

The Hawks will take to the ice again this weekend in Minnesota on Friday and Saturday against Saint Scholastica. The games will begin at 7:00 pm and 9:00 respectively.
