Hawks Roll Again, 88-59 Against New Haven
Manchester, NH – Saint Anselm turned a 23 point halftime lead into a 29 point victory, 88-59 over New Haven Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 conference action at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The Hawks still have yet to lose a home game this season. Jack Keough (Owego, NY) turned in a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double to lead four Hawks in double-digit scoring.
The win improves St. Anselm, receiving votes in the latest NCAA DII poll, to 14-3 overall and 10-3 in the Northeast-10. With the loss, New Haven falls to 3-13 overall and 2-11 in the Northeast-10. The Hawks executed their offense seamlessly throughout the contest, shooting 50% from the field and 42% from behind the three point line. They also dominated the Chargers on the glass 43-23.
The Hawks came out scorching hot as they converted on their first three offensive possessions en route to a 7-0 run. The Chargers were never able to recover as St. Anselm only extended their lead to 23 by halftime. Keough recorded a first half double-double with 13 points to go along with ten rebounds. As a team the Hawks out-rebounded the Chargers by 19 over the first twenty minutes.
New Haven was led by Sean Harris (Mt. Vernon, NY) who scored 15 points. The Chargers shot 54% from the field in the second half, but couldn't get any closer than 21. Thomas Baudinet (Watertown, CT), Allen Harris (Roslindale, MA) and Dominic Borelli (Westbrook, ME) were the other Hawks in double figures. Harris came up one rebound short of a double-double of his own.
