Hawks Rally Falls Short; Fall 4-2 Against Saint Michael's

Manchester, N.H January 14) -- Saint Michael's College snapped the Hawks four-game win streak toinght, defeating the Hawks 4-2 tonight at the Sullivan Arena. Coleman Noonan (Norfolk, Mass.) lead the Hawks with two points, collecting two assists in the loss.

Brady Earle (Columbia, Md.) scored first goal for Saint Michael's after 3:09 had elapsed in the first period to make the score 1-0 early in the game. Saint Michael's took the lead into the first intermission. The Hawks could only put two shots on target in the period.

Josh Geary (Wellesley, Mass.) notched the second Saint Michael's goal with just over three minutes to play in the second period. The Ice Knights tacked on another goal with 59 seconds left on a shot by Reave MacKinnon (Winnipeg, Manitoba), giving Saint Michael's a 3-0 lead going into the third period.

Timothy King (Weymouth, Mass.) got the Hawks on the scoreboard with 12:17 remaining in the game on a shorthanded goal. The goal was scored on Noonan's first assist. The Hawks rallied again and scored on a power play by Paul Snell (Groton, Mass.) with 3:43 left on the clock, giving Noonan his second assist of the game. The Hawks rally was cut short when Alex Higgins (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored an empty-net goal with 36 seconds left in the contest, giving Saint Michael's the 4-2 win.

Robert Kang (Glen Rock, N.J.) and Kevin Fairweather (Woburn, Mass.) combined for 20 saves in the defeat.

The loss drops the Hawks record to 6-4 overall, while their conference records fall to 2-1 in the Northeast-10 and 4-4 in the ECAC East. The win improves the Purple Knight's record to 6-6 overall, and 3-0 in the Northeast-10 and 4-4 in the ECAC East.

The Hawks will be at home again tomorrow to take on #3 Norwich University at 3:00 pm in an ECAC East showdown.
