Rindge, N.H. (September 29) -- Juniors
Sara
Sterling (Mansfield, Mass.) and Stephanie
Chaisson (Methuen, Mass.) each scored as the Hawks
dropped an 8-2 final to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday night at
Sodexho Field in non-conference field hockey action.
After a 3-0 halftime lead for the Ravens, Kayla
Simeone pushed the lead to 4-0 just 1:51 into the second
period. Sterling scored her second goal of the season at 40:54,
followed by Chaisson's goal at the 50:11 mark to make it a 4-2 game
with just under 20 minutes remaining. The Ravens had other ideas
though as they scored four goals in a nine-minute span in the
second half for the 8-2 final. Simeone finished the game with a
career-best four-goal outing for Franklin Pierce.
Sophomore Megan Sullivan
(Braintree, Mass.) made 17 saves in the loss, while
Rachel Baxter made three saves in the victory.
Saint Anselm is now 0-6 overall, while the Ravens improve to 3-4
on the season. Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday
afternoon, hosting Southern Connecticut in a 2 p.m. start.
