Colchester, Vt. (September, 29th) - - The Saint
Anselm Hawks women's soccer team played their last game of
September this afternoon against Northeast-10 Conference opponent
Saint Michael's College. The Purple Knights of Saint Michael's
scored twice early and won the game by a 2-0 final. The loss drops
the Hawks to 2-5-1 overall (Northeast-10, 2-4-1), while the Purple
Knights improve to 3-4-2 overall (Northeast-10, 2-3-2).
Saint Michael's jumped onto the scoreboard very quickly, when in
the sixth minute Megan Olsen (Glenmont, N.Y.)
scored the first goal for the Purple Knights. Just a minute later,
Jordyn Mallett (Winslow, Maine) scored the Purple
Knights second and final goal of the game.
In the second half, the Hawks had more chances than the Purple
Knights, as they put three shots on goal, compared to just two by
Saint Michael's.
For the Hawks, senior co-captain Jackie Cooney
(Braintree, Mass.) made five saves for the Hawks, while
Emily
Rooney (Quincy, Mass.) took four shots and put one on

(Stoughton, Mass.), Kelli Duggan
(Easton, Mass.) and Teresa
Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) each added a shot on goal
for Saint Anselm.
The Hawks will return home this Saturday begin the second half
of their season, when they take on Northeast-10 Conference opponent
Pace University. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
