Manchester, N.H. (September 18) -- In the 2010
home opener for Saint Anselm, the Hawks dropped a 4-0 final to No.
3 ranked UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon on Homecoming. The
Hawks fall to 0-2 overall with the loss, while the River Hawks now
sit at 6-0 on the season.
Liz Day (North Andover, Mass.) got things
started early for the visitors as she scored her third goal of the
season at the 9:33 mark on an assist from All-American
Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, Mass.). Day added her
second goal of the game at 20:18, off an assist by Jaime
Hadley (Chelmsford, Mass.) and capped the hat trick just
1:47 later on an unassisted goal. Leading 3-0 at the half, senior
Katie Enaire (Amesbury, Mass.) closed out the
scoring with her seventh goal of the season at 41:11, an unassisted
goal, for the 4-0 final.
Saint Anselm sophomore goaltender Megan Sullivan
(Braintree, Mass.) made a career-high 19 saves in the
loss, while freshman Melanie Hopkins (Harwich,
Mass.) made three stops for the River Hawks in the
win.
Saint Anselm returns to action at home on Sunday, September 19th
as the Hawks host Adelphi University for a 12 Noon start.
