Colchester, Vt. (September 14) -- After leading
by a 1-0 margin at halftime in its season opener, the Saint
Anselm field hockey team dropped a 2-1 final to host Saint
Michael's on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 0-1 overall with
the narrow defeat.
Saint Anselm sophomore Kristina Katsikis (Hanover,
Mass.) put the Hawks up 1-0 at 29:44 before the Purple
Knights tied things up early in the second half. Natalie
Elvidge scored off a rebound at the 40:27 mark and
Taylor Wahnenbrook scored on a blast from outside
the arc at 60:07 for the game winner. Sophomore Megan
Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.) made six saves in her first
start of the season.
Saint Anselm returns to action on Saturday, September 25th as
the Hawks host No. 3 ranked UMass Lowell at 2 p.m.
