Leicester, Mass. (March 6) -- Scoring the last
15 goals of the game, the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team cruised
to a 24-2 non-conference win over Becker College on Saturday
afternoon for its first win of the season. The victory is also the
first for first-year head coach Steve Gaudreau.
The Hawks scored seven goals in each of the first two quarters,
building to a 14-2 halftime lead. Saint Anselm held Becker
scoreless in the second half as the Hawks outshot Becker by a 58-13
margin for the game.
Leading the way for the Hawks was senior Ryan McDonald
(Bow, N.H.) with four goals, along with hat tricks from
Mike Ludlow (West Simsbury, Conn.) and
William Kussin (Concord, Mass.). Conor
O'Donnell (Smithfield, R.I.) posted one goal and four
assists, along with two goals and two assists for senior
Matt O'Connell (Charlestown, Mass.). Senior
Jeff Dunkle (Exeter, N.H.) also had two goals in
the win, while Pat Acone (Bow, N.H.) earned his
first win of the season with two saves in 25:45 of play.
Saint Anselm sits at 1-1 overall, while Becker is now 0-1 on the
season. The Hawks return to action on March 13th at 1 p.m. as the
team travels across Manchester to take on Southern New Hampshire.
