Hawks Fall To Concordia, Down Lake Superior State

Clermont, Fla. (March 1) -- After dropping a 9-2 final to Concordia (N.Y.) in the first game of the day, the Hawks downed Lake Superior State by a 9-0 final in game two on the second day of the NTC Spring Games in Florida.

In game one, senior Lisa Caruso (Granby, Conn.) took the loss for the Hawks as she went two innings and gave up five runs, with three of those earned. Amanda Massad (Grafton, Mass.) went 1-for-3 with one RBI, while Raylyn Glavin (Saugus, Mass.) posted a 2-for-2 game with an RBI. Freshman Kylene Pease (Ashland, Mass.) was also 2-for-2 in the game.

Saint Anselm 9, Lake Superior State 0 (5 innings)
In the win over Lake Superior State, freshman Shannon Dalton (Concord, Mass.) picked up her second win in as many days, going five shutout innings and allowing four hits with two strikeouts. The Hawks scored seven runs before the Lakers recorded an out and held an 8-0 lead after one inning on nine hits. Liz Trafton (Berwick, Maine) and Lauren Galavotti (Marion, Mass.) were each 1-for-2 with two RBI, along with a 4-for-4 outing by Jackie Giannino (Beverly, Mass.), along with two runs scored.

The Hawks are 2-3 overall on the season and are back in action on Tuesday as the team faces Concordia (N.Y.) in the morning, followed by two games vs. Concordia (Mich.) in the afternoon.
