Colchester, Vt. (February 24) -- On a snowy
Wednesday night, the Saint Anselm women's basketball team dropped
the 2009-2010 season finale at Saint Michael's by a 45-35 final at
the Ross Sports Center. Saint Anselm ends the season 10-17 overall
and 7-15 in the league.
After a first half that saw the two teams combine for and
11-for-50 performance from the field, Saint Michael's used five
second-half three-pointers to push the lead to as many as 13 points
late in the game. Saint Anselm held a 16-11 lead at the half
however after an 8-2 run to end the period.
In the second, the Purple Knights took the lead for good just
over two minutes into the half and pushed it to double digits with
2:40 left on two free throws by Michelle Otey.
Megan Howard (St. Paul, Minn.) got the Hawks back
to within nine on the next possession before Saint Michael's pulled
away for the win.
Freshman Morgan Frame (Waterville, Maine) led
the Hawks with an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double, her first
career double-double. Howard ended up with 11 rebounds in 25
minutes.
Alexis Keller and Logan Pintka
each had 11 points for Saint Michael's, along with 10 points from
Caitlin Quinn.
The Purple Knights end the 2009-2010 season at 9-16 overall and
7-15 in the Northeast-10.
