Hawks Top Century Mark in Senior Day Victory

Manchester, N.H. (February 20) -- Led by 26 points each from junior Thomas Baudinet (Watertown, Conn.) and senior Greg Vetrano (Andover, Mass.), Saint Anselm cruised to a 101-70 victory over UMass Lowell on Senior Day at Stoutenburgh Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Saint Anselm knocked down its first eight three-pointers of the game and shot a blistering 69.2 percent from three-point land in the first half. Leading the way in the half was Baudinet, who had 22 points in the opening period behind 9-for-12 shooting from the field. Vetrano also had 13 points and six assists in the half, which was the second-highest scoring half this season for Saint Anselm.

In the second half, the Hawks quickly pushed the lead up over 20 points and led by 30 at 89-59 with 5:26 remaining after a layup by Baudinet. Saint Anselm led by at least 29 the rest of the way as the Hawks split the regular-season series with the River Hawks. The matchup was a clash of two regionally-ranked teams as the Hawks are No. 4, followed by UMass Lowell at No. 5.

Vetrano and Baudinet each scored 26 points, while Branimir Zeko (Mississauga, Ontario) scored 10 points. Vetrano barely missed a double-double as he ended up with nine assists on the day. For his career, Vetrano now has 375 assists and is 11th all-time at Saint Anselm, one assist ahead of his brother, Chris, who graduated in 2008. In addition, Vetrano now has 975 career points with one regular-season game remaining. Along with Vetrano, Baudinet continues to the climb the Saint Anselm scoring list and with 1,258 points, he is now 24th all-time.

Transfer Matt Welch (Lowell, Mass.) led four River Hawks in double figures with 15 points off the bench.

Saint Anselm is now 17-9 overall and 13-8 in the Northeast-10, while UMass Lowell sits at 15-11 overall and 12-9 in the league. The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday night as the team travels to Saint Michael's for a 7:30 p.m. start at the Ross Sports Center in Colchester, Vt.
