Hawks Collect Fifth Win Over Williams College

Williamston, Mass. (December 3) --  Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) scored her team leading sixth goal of the season and game-winning goal to lead the Hawks in a 4-1 victory tonight over the Eph's of Williams College.

Courtney Winters (Swampscott, Mass.) got the scoring started for the Hawks early, as she scored just two minutes into the game. The goal, which was assisted by Kathryn Picarello (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Kaitlin O'Brien (South Boston, Mass.), was Winters' second of the season. Giarrusso scored her goal which was shorthanded with three seconds left to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.

In the second period, co-captain Sarah Ellins (Greeley, Colo.) scored on a power play on a pass from other co-captain Alexa Hingston (Charleston, Mass.). The Hawks scored on another shorthanded goal five minutes into the third period on Aly Zappen's (Huntington Beach, Calif.) fifth goal of the year. Hingston collected her second assist of the game on Zappen's goal.

Between the pipes for the Hawks, Meghan Grant (Melrose, Mass.) made 20 saves in her second win of the season.

The Hawks, who improve to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference with the win, will return home to the Sullivan Arena tomorrow afternoon in their final game before the December break to take on UMass.-Boston in a 3:00 pm game.
