Colchester, Vt. (November 20) -- Riding two goals by both Alexa Hingston (Charleston, Mass.) and Aly Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.), the Saint Anselm Hawks cruised 6-0 win against the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College. Meghan Grant (Melrose, Mass.) was forced to make just 12 saves in the game.
The Hawks didn't score their first goal of the game until 7:39 into the second period on a Sarah Ellins (Greeley, Colo.) power play goal, assisted by Sami Tatu (Waterford, Mich.) and Kathryn Picarello (West Roxbury, Mass.). Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) scored her fourth goal of the season four minutes later to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Zappen scored her first goal with 2:38 remaining in the second period to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead going into the locker room.
Just one minute into the third period, Zappen scored again for a 4-0 lead. Hingston scored goals five and six on power play goals at the 15 and 10 minute marks left in the game.
The Hawks are now 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the ECAC East. The Hawks return to the ice tomorrow to take on Norwich at 3:00 pm.
