Manchester, N.H. (November 13) -- Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach,Fla.) scored her third goal of the young season in a tough 6-1 loss to Holy Cross at home this afternoon. The Hawks put 25 shots on goal compared to the 23 of Holy Cross despite the loss.
Saint Anselm was called for six penalties resulting in playing with one less skater for 12 minutes over the course of the game. The second penalty of the night, a checking call on Michelle Lecombe (Delafield, Wisc.), led to the first Holy Cross goal of the game, 14 minutes into the period with a Holy Cross man advantage. Five minutes later, Giarrusso tied the game at 1-1 on two great passes from co-captain Alexa Hingston (Charleston, Mass.) and Courtney Winters (Swampscott, Mass).
In the second period, Alex Campione (Townsend, Mass.) scored the game-winner with about five minutes left in the period for Holy Cross. Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) and Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.) rattled off two more quick goals for Holy Cross to take a 4-1 lead into the intermission.
In the third period, Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario) scored two minutes into the period, followed by Hochkins second goal of the game and fifth of the season to make the score 6-1.
With an overall record of 3-2 and an ECAC East record of 2-2, the Hawks will play again next Friday, November 20 at Saint Michael's College at 1:00 pm. The following afternoon, Saint Anselm will square off with Norwich on the road in a 3:00 pm start.
