Springfield, Mass. (October 30) -- On Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action, the Saint Anselm field hockey team dropped a 9-1 final at American International College at Abdow Field. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-11 overall and 2-5 in league play.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead early before senior Sara Griffin (Derry, N.H.) tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season to cut the lead down to 2-1 at the 10:42 mark of the opening half. AIC scored three more times in the half however and took a 5-1 lead into the break. For the Yellow Jackets, Amanda McLean scored her third goal of the game early in the second half as the hosts pulled away for the 9-1 final.
Sophomore Megan Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.) made nine saves in the loss for Saint Anselm, while Nicole Spence turned aside three shots for the Yellow Jackets for the win.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Tuesday, November 2nd as the Hawks host Franklin Pierce.
