Marshfield, Mass. (October 17th) – The Saint Anselm golf team took on Assumption College today at the Marshfield Country Club. The teams squared off in seven matches, including five individuals. The Hawks came out victorious, winning by a 6-1 final, including the sweep of both best ball matches.

The first match featured Nicholas Maccario (Bradford, Mass.) who defeated Rick Giovino (Medford, Mass.) of Assumption, 5 and 4. Also in the match, Brian Foley (Worcester, Mass.) was defeated by Rick Bylund (Auburn, Mass.) of Assumption, 4 and 3. The Hawks won the best ball two-up.

In the second match, Tyler Fay (Barrington, R.I.) defeated Ryan Myers (Foxboro, Mass.) of Assumption, 4 and 3, while Emilio Bardini (Salem, Mass.) defeated A.J. Simokaitis (Falmouth, Maine.) two and one. The Hawks won the best ball 4 and 3.

Joseph Fitzsimmons (Marshfield, Mass.) defeated Devin Tarpey (Melrose, Mass.) of Assumption, 4 and 3 in the third match, sealing the 6-1 victory.

Saint Anselm will compete tomorrow in the NEIGA Championship at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts, tomorrow and Tuesday. Check back for scores.
