New Haven, Conn. -- On Saturday afternoon
in the Northeast-10 opener, the Saint Anselm field hockey team
dropped a 5-2 final to Southern Connecticut at Jess Dow Field in
New Haven, Conn. The Hawks fall to 0-2 overall on the season.
Laura Dembofsky scored twice for the Owls in
the opening eight minutes before Kristina Katsikis
(Hanover, Mass.) got the Hawks on the board with an
unassisted tally at the 23:15 mark. The Owls scored the next three
goals to take a 5-1 advantage before Sara Bassett
(Stoneham, Mass.) added her second goal of the season to
account for the 5-2 final.
Lindsey MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) made nine
saves in net for the Hawks, while Lauren Zarrella
turned aside eight shots in the win.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Sunday afternoon as the team
travels to Adelphi University for a 1 p.m. start in Garden
City, N.Y.
