Worcester, Mass. (September 22) -- After 68
minutes of scoreless play, Assumption scored off a rebound with
under two minutes left to defeat Saint Anselm by a 1-0 final in
Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday night.
The Hawks outshot the Greyhounds by a 6-3 margin in the
first half, but were unable to get anything past Assumption
netminder Danielle Luongo. In the second half, it
was Assumption with the advantage in shots as they held a 6-2
advantage in the period. Saint Anselm freshman goalie
Lindsey MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) kept the
Greyhounds off the scoreboard until the final minutes when
Hillary Zysk scored off a rebound for the eventual
game winner.
MacDonald and Luongo both finished the game with three saves
each.
Saint Anselm drops to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10,
while Assumption is now 2-6 overall and 1-2 in league play. Saint
Anselm returns to action on Friday afternoon as the Hawks host
Limestone for a 3 p.m. start.
