Hawks Fall in Final Minutes at Assumption, 1-0

Worcester, Mass. (September 22) -- After 68 minutes of scoreless play, Assumption scored off a rebound with under two minutes left to defeat Saint Anselm by a 1-0 final in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday night.

The Hawks outshot the Greyhounds by a 6-3 margin  in the first half, but were unable to get anything past Assumption netminder Danielle Luongo. In the second half, it was Assumption with the advantage in shots as they held a 6-2 advantage in the period. Saint Anselm freshman goalie Lindsey MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) kept the Greyhounds off the scoreboard until the final minutes when Hillary Zysk scored off a rebound for the eventual game winner.

MacDonald and Luongo both finished the game with three saves each.

Saint Anselm drops to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10, while Assumption is now 2-6 overall and 1-2 in league play. Saint Anselm returns to action on Friday afternoon as the Hawks host Limestone for a 3 p.m. start.
