Lowell, Mass. (September 19) -- On a sunny
Saturday afternoon, the Saint Anselm field hockey team dropped a
9-1 final to No. 3 ranked UMass Lowell in non-conference action.
The Hawks fall to 0-7 on the season, while Lowell is now 8-1
overall.
The River Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game's first seven
minutes as Katie Enaire scored all four goals for
the hosts. After Lizzy Ales added her fifth goal
of the season to make it 5-0, Saint Anselm got on the board with
the first goal of the season by Caitlin Hurley (Cape
Elizabeth, Maine). Assisting on the goal was Sara
Sterling (Mansfield, Mass.). A 6-1 game at the halftime
break, the River Hawks added three more second-half scores for the
9-1 final.
Lindsey MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) took the
start for the Hawks, making five saves in the first half.
Megan Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.) played the
second half, turning aside nine of the 12 shots she faced.
Saint Anselm returns to action on Tuesday night as the Hawks
travel to Assumption for a 7 p.m. start in Worcester.
