North Andover, Mass. (September 10) --
Concluding a three-game road trip, the Saint Anselm field hockey
team dropped a 5-2 final at Merrimack in the team's Northeast-10
Conference opener on Thursday night under the lights at Warrior
Field.
The Hawks tied the game twice, including in the opening minutes
of the second half, on goals from Sara Sterling (Mansfield,
Mass.) and Maura Hurley (Holden, Mass.).
However, a goal by Jaclyn Germano on a penalty
corner at the 42:51 mark and a pair of scores from Kelly
Pasquantonio gave the Warriors the 5-2 win.
Lindsey MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) took the
loss, making 10 saves in 67:23 of play. Megan Sullivan
(Braintree, Mass.) played the final 2:37 of the contest.
Kerri Bergquist made three saves in the win.
Saint Anselm drops to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the league, while
Merrimack is now 3-3 overall and 1-0 in Northeast-10 play. The
Hawks are back in action on Saturday afternoon as the team hosts
No. 10 Stonehill for a 2 p.m. start.
