Easton, Mass. (May
3) -- In the final doubleheader of the season, the Saint
Anselm baseball team dropped a pair of games to Stonehill in
Northeast-10 play on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks fell in game one
by a narrow 8-7 final before dropping game two by a 9-1 score.
The Hawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on
RBI hits by Melvin Perdue (Jonesboro, Ga.),

Baca (Franklin, N.H.). After the Skyhawks scored single
unearned runs in both the second and third innings, Saint Anselm
pushed the lead back to 4-2 in the fourth and added two more in the
sixth to make it 6-2.
Stonehill scored four times in the seventh and added two more in
the eighth to make it an 8-6 game as Bret Bartlett
(Duxbury, Mass.) relieved Saint Anselm starter
Sean Hayden (Haverhill, Mass.) after 6.1 innings.
Ben Waldrip (Medford, Mass.) homered to right

but the visitors would get no closer in the loss. Barlett took the
loss in 1.2 innings of relief, allowed three hits and two runs in
1.2 innings of work. Hayden allowed six runs, including four
earned, along with four strikeouts. Ben Gunn (Vineyard

Mass.) also finished at 2-for-5 with two runs batted in.
In game two, Stonehill jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three
innings before the Hawks got on the board in the fifth on a
bases-loaded walk that scored Evan Kelleher (Haverhill,
Mass.). The Skyhawks added two later runs for the 9-1
final. John Healy (Cranston, R.I.) went 2.1
innings, allowing seven hits and six earned runs to drop to 3-5
overall. Jimmy Garrigan (Plymouth, Mass.) was the
lone Hawk with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 in the season finale.
