Manchester, N.H. (April 25) --
On an 80-degree Saturday afternoon, the Saint Anselm softball team
dropped a pair of Northeast-10 games to the College of Saint Rose.
The Hawks drop game one by a 4-3 final, followed by a 9-4 defeat in
the second game.
In the top of the first, the Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead on
an RBI single through the right side by Ashley
Anderson to score Megan Rios. The Hawks
answered back immediately though in the bottom of the inning as
Lizzy LeBrun (Rowley, Mass.) roped an RBI double

The Hawks took a 3-1 lead in the second as Moira McCabe
(Brookline, N.H.) launched a two-RBI double to right field

Rose with multiple hits as she was 3-for-3 with one run scored and
two runs batted in.
Kayla McEachern (Stoneham, Mass.) led the Hawks
with a 2-for-3 showing with one RBI, while McCabe was 1-for-3 with

the Golden Knights, pitching three innings and allowing just one
hit to improve to 9-11. Junior Megan Lemire (Worcester,
Mass.) allowed four runs, two earned, while scattering
seven hits to fall to 11-10 overall.
In the second game, Saint Rose jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a
two-RBI single to right center by Kerry Monahan.
The Hawks answered in the third with three runs, keyed by a two-RBI
single to left center by Brittany Birch (Bradford,
Mass.). Saint Rose scored single runs in the third and
fourth innings before the Hawks tied the game again in the bottom
of the fourth. Morgan Murphy (Orange, Mass.) lined
a one-out triple to left that bounced off the outfield wall and she
came home on an RBI single up the middle by senior Julie
Beaudry (Worcester, Mass.).
Saint Rose took control in the top of the fifth with four
unearned runs to turn the tie game into an 8-4 lead for the Golden
Knights. The visitors added a sixth-inning run to account for the
9-4 final.
Raylyn Glavin (Saugus, Mass.) and Murphy both
finished game two with two hits each to lead the Hawks offense.
Lisa Caruso (Granby, Conn.) fell to 3-6 overall
with the loss, while Welch improved to 10-11 with her third victory
of the day.
Saint Anselm returns to action on Sunday afternoon, hosting Le
