Manchester,
N.H. (April 2)-The Saint Anselm
College baseball, led by Nick Barese's
(Braintree,
Mass.) complete game, defeated
the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire 2-1 Thursday afternoon at
Sullivan Park. The win improves the Hawks to 9-12 overall and 5-2
in NE-10 play, while the loss drops the Penmen to 8-12 overall and

Southern New Hampshire took the lead in the top of the fifth on
a solo home run from senior first baseman Jeff Giannino
(Beverly,

After that Barese would not allow another Penmen runner to reach
scoring position and Saint Anselm would knock five hits and score
two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore centerfielder
TJ Murphy
(Reading,
Mass.) would crack an RBI double
and sophomore right fielder Jimmy Garrigan
(Plymouth,
Mass.) had an RBI single for the
2-1 NE-10 victory.
Barese went the distance scattering four hits and allowing the
lone run, while Southern New Hampshire starter Brad Monroe
(Hampton Falls,
N.H.), who held the Hawks hitless
through the first six innings, allowed the two Hawk runs in the
losing effort.
Saint Anselm returns to the field Saturday, April 4th, as they
will travel to Saint Rose for a NE-10 doubleheader at noon.
