Winter Park, Florida (March 7)-The Saint Anselm
College women's lacrosse team fell to Kenyon College 16-15 on a
goal scored by Jackie Shirreffs (South Elgin,
Illinois) with less than five seconds left, on Saturday
afternoon. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-2 on the year, while the
win in Kenyon's season opener makes them 1-0.
The Hawks were led by senior attack Michaela Rocha
(Rye,
N.H.) with her five goal, one
assist effort. Saint Anselm also got a great game from freshman
midfielder Meghan Smith (E.
Rochester,
N.Y.) who tallied three goals and
one assist on the afternoon. Emily Traicoff
(Beverly,
Mass.) and Courtney Ford
(Concord,
Mass.) each had multiple point
games with Traicoff netting three goals and Ford compiling two
goals and two assists.
Saint Anselm goaltender Katherine O'Hara
(Norwell,
Mass.) made 10 saves in net for
the Hawks, but allowed the game winning goal by Shirreffs with less
than five seconds left for the 16-15 loss.
The Hawks return to action on Friday, March 13th, as they will
host Molloy at 2:30 at the Hampshire Dome in Milford, N.H.
