Conn. (March 20)-The Saint Anselm
College women's lacrosse team defeated the Owls of Southern
Connecticut State University 18-8 to pick up their first NE-10
victory of the season. The Hawk's Michaela Rocha
(Rye,
N.H.) netted her 100th career
goal for Saint Anselm in the victory.
With the win the Hawks move to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in NE-10
play, while the Owls fall to 0-4 on the year and 0-2 in conference
action.
Rocha's nine points was good enough to lead all scorers in this
afternoon's contest. With 6:28 remaining in the first half, the
senior attack netted her 100th career goal on a free position shot.
Meghan Smith
(Pittsford,
N.Y.) and Tia Karon
(Medford,
Mass.) also had three-goal games
for Saint Anselm. Hawk netminder Katherine O'Hara
(Norwell,
Mass.) set aside 11 shots and
allowed only eight goals to pick up her second victory of the
season.
Southern Connecticut's Teresa Monfredo
(Shirley,
N.Y.) led the owls with three
goals in the losing effort. Goaltender Lisa Corso
(North Bellmore,
N.Y.) made 17 saves and allowed
18 goals in the loss.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow, March 21st, with a
non-conference game at Dowling at 4 p.m.
