Brookhaven, N.Y. (March 21)-The Saint Anselm
College women's lacrosse team fell to the Dowling College Golden
Lions 19-10 on Saturday night at Golden Lions Field. The loss drops
the Hawks to 2-4 on the season, while the win keeps Dowling perfect
at 3-0 in 2009.
Saint Anselm was again led by senior attack Michaela
Rocha (Rye,
N.H.) with eight goals and one
assist for nine of the teams 13 points. Freshman midfielder
Meghan Smith
(Pittsford,
Mass.) had a multi-goal game with
two, and goaltender Katherine O'Hara
(Norwell,
Mass.) made five saves and
allowed 19 goals in the losing effort.
Dowling had a balanced attack with nine players scoring at least
one goal led by Kelly Cefalu's (East
Islip,
N.Y.) five goals on the night.
Cassandra Cronin (Islip
Terrace, N.Y.) had four goals and three assists
for seven points, while goaltender Rachel Goldstein (Ridge,
N.Y.) made eight saves and allowed 10 goals in the win.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, March 24th, as they will
host Merrimack College at 4 p.m. in NE-10 action.
