Easton, Mass.
(March 16)-The Saint Anselm College women's
lacrosse team fell to the No. 5 ranked Stonehill College Skyhawks
21-9 on Monday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium. The loss drops the
Hawks to 1-3 and 0-1 in NE-10 play, while the win makes Stonehill
1-0 overall and in conference action.
The Hawks were led by freshman midfielder Meghan Smith
(E. Rochester,
N.Y.) who posted five goals and
two assists for five points on the night. Courtney Ford
(Concord,
Mass.) was second on the team
with three goals, while midfielder Leigh Krztston
(Bedford,
N.H.) pitched in with her second
goal of the year. Goaltender Katherine O'Hara
(Norwell,
Mass.) made nine saves and
allowed 16 goals in the loss.
The Skyhawks had two players net six goals in Leyla
Kuz-Dworzak (Norwalk,
Conn.) and Michelle
Kelley (Mendham,
N.J.). Stonehill goalie
Justine Ferland
(Portsmouth,
N.H.) made 13 saves to give the
Skyhawks the win.
The Hawks next game was scheduled to be a home contest against
Southern N.H. on Wednesday, March 18th, but due to field conditions
it has been postponed to a later date. Saint Anselm's next game
will be on Friday, March 20th, when they travel to Southern
Connecticut for a 4 p.m. start.
