Rindge, N.H. (November 1) -- In the
Northeast-10 Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon, the
Saint Anselm women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 final to No. 22
Franklin Pierce at Sodexho Field. The Hawks end the season at 9-9-1
overall and 8-7-0 in league play.
All-American Gabriela Demoner notched her 28th
goal of the season in the closing minutes of the first half for the
Ravens, taking a pass and firing the shot into the lower left
corner of the net. The game remained just 1-0 until the final 10
minutes of the second half when Angelika Johansson
scored a pair of goals, her 15th and 16th of the season, to seal
the 3-0 victory. The Hawks defense battled the Ravens throughout
the game as netminder Jacqueline Cooney (Braintree,
Mass.) made 13 saves in the contest.
Jocelyn Leon made two saves for the Ravens in
the victory as the hosts outshot Saint Anselm by a 32-4 margin.
With the win, the Ravens improve to 15-3-1 overall and are
12-2-1 in the NE-10 and advance to the Northeast-10 Tournament
semifinals.
