Manchester, N.H. (January 17)-The Saint Anselm
College women's ice hockey team rolled past the Engineers of M.I.T.
4-0 on Saturday Afternoon at Sullivan Arena. The win improves the
Hawks to 10-3-1 overall and 8-3-0 in ECAC East action, while the
loss drops the Engineers to 2-9-1 overall and in league play.
After a scoreless first period, senior tri-captain
Kelsey Johnson
(Byfield,
Mass.) lit the lamp off a rebound
from Cierra Romaldo (Chuluota, Fl.) with eight
minutes left in the second period. Thirty seconds later,
Chelsea Fillingim
(Fairbanks,
Alaska) extended the Hawks lead
to 2-0. At the 18:52 mark in the second period senior
Bianca DeSantis
(Georgetown,
Mass.) made it 3-0 Hawks going
into the final period.
In the final stanza, Sami Tatu's
(Waterford,
Mich.) wrist shot from the blue
line found the back of the net for 4-0 ECAC East victory.
Hawk goalie Carley Berry
(Danvers,
Mass.) made 12 saves in the
shutout victory, while Engineer goaltender Rachel
Bowens-Rubin (Loretto,
Minn.) made 33 saves in the
losing effort.
The Hawks return to the ice Friday, January 23rd, as they will
travel to Norwich University for a 7 p.m. start.
