Manchester, N.H. (September 16) -- After
jumping out to a 2-0 lead just six minutes into the first half, the
Saint Anselm field hockey team fell to visiting Merrimack by a 4-2
final in Northeast-10 play.
Sam Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) returned to the
lineup and found the back of the net at the 4:42 mark for an
unassisted score and her first goal of the season. Classmate
Maggie Dwyer (Elkridge, Md.) added to the score
with her third goal of the year just 1:29 later and it was 2-0
Hawks. Just before halftime, the Warriors cut the lead in half as
Jaclyn Germano (Westwood, Mass.) scored her
team-leading third goal of the year, off an assist by
Stephanie Glazier (Sandown, N.H.).
In the second half, the game was tied at 2-2 after just two
minutes as this time it was Glazier from Germano for the equalizer.
The Warriors took the lead for good at 51:55 as Jessica
DeLacey (Charlton, Mass.) scored her first goal for a
3-2 lead. She added an insurance goal 10 minutes later to account
for the 4-2 final.
Jillian Lewis (Exeter, N.H.) made two saves for
the Warriors in the win, while Riley Haddock (Falmouth,
Maine) turned aside one shot in the defeat.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday at Noon as the Hawks
take on Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
