Manchester, N.H. (September 10) --
Emily Morrissey scored just 46 seconds into the
extra period as Franklin Pierce defeated Saint Anselm by a 2-1
final in Northeast-10 field hockey play on Wednesday afternoon.
Both teams played over 60 minutes of scoreless field hockey
before Nicole Henrique struck at the 61:12 mark on
a play assisted by Jordan Baillargeon. The Hawks
answered back quickly though just 49 seconds later as Laura
Urko (Attleboro, Mass.) knocked in a rebound for her third
goal of the season.
It took just one shot in the overtime period as Morrissey
knocked it past Saint Anselm goalie Riley Haddock
(Falmouth, Maine) for the game-winning score.
Haddock turned seven shots in the loss, while NE-10 Freshman of
the Week Kristin Tormollan made two saves in the
win.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday afternoon as the
Hawks travel to American International for a 5 p.m. start. That
game will take place at Elms College.
