Hawks Fall in Northeast-10 Final, 5-1

Colchester, Vt. (March 8) -- On Saturday afternoon, the Saint Anselm men's hockey team fell to top-seeded Saint Michael's by a 5-1 final in the Northeast-10 Tournament Championship Game.

Dan Anctil gave the Purple Knights a 1-0 lead just 3:53 into the game with a shorthanded goal. After heading into the first intermission at 1-0, the Hawks tied the score on the power play just 1:23 into the second period on the fourth goal of the season from Mike Adams (Bedford, Mass.). Assisting on the goal was Nick Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.). Just 2:46 later though, Saint Michael's tied the game on the fifth goal of the season from Patrick McGuirk. Midway through the third, the Purple Knights extended the lead with a goal from Alex Higgins and put the game away with two late scores.

Pat Gallagher (Framingham, Mass.) turned aside 28 shots in the loss, while Tyler Bilton made 31 saves for the win.

Saint Anselm ends the season at 12-12-3 overall, while Saint Michael's ends at 12-14-1 on the season.
