Manchester, N.H. (March 30) -- The Saint Anselm
men's tennis team played its closest match of the season, but the
Hawks fell 5-4 to American International on Sunday afternoon in the
Carr Center on the campus of Saint Anselm College. With the loss,
the Hawks drop to 0-6, 0-5 Northeast-10. The win improves the
Yellow Jackets to 1-3, 1-2 in conference play.
Saint Anselm picked up victories at No. 2 doubles from
Chris Tremblay (Haverhill, Mass.) and
Thomas Pickin (Newport, R.I.) and at No. 3 doubles
from Corey Boudreau (Swanton, Vt.) and
Chris Darnowski (Barrington, R.I.) to take a 2-1
lead after doubles play. American International bounced back in the
singles matches though to take the slim 5-4 victory. Darnowski
picked up the win at No. 4 singles and Pickin got the win
at No. 5 doubles for the Hawks.
The Hawks are back on the court on Wednesday, traveling to
Southern New Hampshire for a 4 p.m. match.
