Manchester, N.H. (April 3) -- The Saint Anselm men's tennis team dropped a close match to Southern New Hampshire on Thursday night at the SNHU courts, 5-4. The Penmen improve to 3-5 overall and in Northeast-10 play, while the Hawks drop to 0-7, 0-6 in league play.

Southern New Hampshire and the Hawks split in the singles matches, but Southern New Hampshire's two wins in doubles proved to be the difference. Chris Darnowski (Barrington, R.I.) and Corey Boudreau (Swanton, Vt.) paired up to win their No. 3 doubles match, 8-4. Chris Tremblay (Haverhill, Mass.) won his No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-3, while Thomas Pickin (Newport, R.I.) won his No. 5 singles match, 6-2, 6-3. Anthony Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) then won a tough No. 6 singles match, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, hosting Merrimack at Noon.
