Easton, Mass. (March 22) -- The women's
lacrosse team dropped a 19-3 final on Saturday afternoon at
Stonehill. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-4, 1-2 Northeast-10. The
win improves Stonehill to 3-0, 2-0 in league play.
Stonehill jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Hawks struck for
two goals to cut the lead in half. Tiea Kurlowecz (Concord,
Mass.) scored at the 14:08 mark, assisted by
Michaela Rocha (Rye, N.H.) to cut the lead to 4-1.
Arden Lyons (Westford, Mass.) then struck just 21
seconds later to chop the lead in half at 4-2. Stonehill netted
another goal to take a 5-2 lead but Courtney Ford (Concord,
Mass.) scored unassisted at the 19:06 mark to go back down
by two to the Skyhawks. The Skyhawks then netted nine straight
unaswered goals to take a commanding 14-3 lead.
The Hawks failed to score in the second half, as Stonehill added
five more goals in the second half, three of which from
Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.), as the Skyhawks
cruised to the 19-3 win.
Katherine O'Hara (Norwell, Mass.) made seven
saves in the loss and Sheila Withey (Las Vegas,
Nev.) made one save in replacement of O'Hara late in
the second half without allowing any goals.
The Hawks return to the field on Saturday, March 29th, scheduled
to host Bentley at 1 p.m.
