Rindge, N.H. (February 23) -- On Saturday
afternoon, the Saint Anselm women's basketball team dropped a 75-55
final to No. 20 ranked Franklin Pierce at the FPU Fieldhouse in
Rindge, N.H. as the Ravens swept the regular-season series.
The Ravens built the lead to as many as 28 at 59-31 with 11:34
remaining before a 19-6 Saint Anselm run cut the lead down to 15
points at 65-50 with 5:37 remaining in the game. The Hawks wouldn't
get any closer though as the Ravens gained revenge for a Saint
Anselm series sweep a year ago.
Meredith Amyot (Ashford, Conn.) led the Hawks
with a 13-point, eight-rebound effort as she was joined in double
figures by junior Justine Lyons (Reading, Mass.)
with 12 points in 4-for-6 shooting from the field. Josie
Lidke lead the Ravens with 23 points, while sophomore
All-American Johannah Leedham finished with 19
points.
With the loss, Saint Anselm falls to 6-20 overall and 3-18 in
the Northeast-10, while the Ravens improve to 22-4 overall and 17-4
in the league. Saint Anselm wraps up the 2007-2008 season on
Tuesday night as the Hawks host Stonehill for Senior Night at 5:30
p.m.
