Plymouth, N.H. (February 1) -- The women's
hockey team shutout Plymouth State on Friday night, 8-0. The win
improves the Hawks to 17-1-0 while remaining undefeated at 13-0-0
in conference play. The loss drops the Panthers to 0-13-1, 0-11-1
ECAC East.
The Hawks opened up scoring at the 14:30 mark in the first
period when Alexa Hingston (Charlestown,
Mass.) scored on the power play, assisted by Arden
Lyons (Westford, Mass.) and Daniella Lyons
(Greene, Maine). Maggie Dwyer (Elkridge,
Md.) lit up the red light for the first time this season
at the 19:15 mark on the power play, assisted by Daniella Lyons and
Kelsey Johnson (Byfield, Mass.). The Hawks took
the 2-0 lead into the second period.
Samantha Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored
quickly into the second period at the 0:49 mark, assisted by
Daniella Lyons and Arden Lyons. Johnson scored her 14th goal of the
season at the 3:02 mark on the power play, assisted by Rowe and
Lindsay Snow (Amherst, N.H.). Rowe then scored
again at the 16:35 mark, assisted by Chelsea Fillingim
(Fairbanks, Alaska) and Mollie Welch (Medford,
Mass.). The Hawks took the 5-0 lead into the third period.
Arianna Rigano (Malden, Mass.) scored at the
2:34 mark of the third period, assisted by Dwyer and
Brittney Gould (Rosemount, Minn.).
Kathleen Twomey (Londonderry, N.H.) then scored
her 11th goal of the season at the 13:49 mark on the power play,
assisted by Arden Lyons. Maria Dougherty (Middletown,
R.I.) rounded out the scoring at the 18:40 mark, assisted
by Gould.
The Hawks return to the ice tomorrow, when Castleton State hosts
the Hawks at 2 p.m.
