The Greyhounds hit the scoreboard first as Taylor Larsen (Blackstone, Mass.) beat Hawk goalkeeper Pat Gallagher (Framingham, Mass.) to make it 1-0 Assumption less than two minutes into the game.

Saint Anselm fought back with just four seconds left in the first period, when senior Matt Lowe (Stoughton, Mass.) took a pass from senior captain Joe Fernald (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Michael DeVita (Annandale, Maryland) to beat Greyhound netminder Steve Di Domenico (Lowell, Mass.) to even the game at one.

Goodrich gave the Hawks the lead eight minutes into the second period on an assist from Paul Snell (Groton, Mass.) to put Saint Anselm on top 2-1.

In the third period, the Hawks added to their lead as Nick Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.) scored on Fernald's second assist of the night to make it 3-1 in favor of the visitors. Snell added a power-play goal from sophomore Ryan Butler (Arlington, Mass.) and senior Mike Nunziato (Guilford, Conn.) with only 25 seconds left in regulation for the 4-1 NE-10 victory.

The Hawks out shot the Greyhounds 40-24 in the contest and went 1-6 on the power-play while Saint Anselm killed all five of the Greyhound's man advantage chances.

Di Domenico made 36 saves on 40 shots on goal in the losing effort, while Gallagher, in his first action of the season, set aside 23 shots on 24 shots on goal including 10 in the final period to preserve the win.
