Manchester,
N.H. (October 5)-The Saint Anselm
women's volleyball team fell to Le Moyne College 3-1 Sunday morning
at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-10 overall
and 0-6 in NE-10 play, while the Dolphins improve to 11-6 overall
and 4-2 in conference play.
The Hawks led by Charlotte Tencza's
(Greenfield,
Mass.) 12 kill, 17 dig
performance, won the first set 25-19. The Dolphins fought back
behind Elizabeth Cheek's (Huntington
Beach,
Calif.) 17 kill, 15 dig day to
win the next three sets 25-15, 25-17, and 25-22.
Senior middle blocker Beth Lonergan (S. Dennis,
Mass.) had a seven kill, 11 dig
showing for the Hawks. Freshman setter Rachel Flaherty
(Cold Spring,
N.Y.) dished out 23 assists,
while sophomore libero Kelly Rudolph
(Winter Park,
Fla.) pitched in with 12 digs in
the loss.
For the Dolphins, Kaylin Brainerd
(Liverpool,
N.Y.) put up 43 assists, while
Kristin Cobb
(Cincinnatus,
N.Y.) and Krista Prentice
(Amherst,
N.Y.) each had double digit kills
with 11 and 10 respectively. Prentice also had a match-high 19 digs
in the victory.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, October 11th, as
they will host American International College at 11 a.m. for a
conference match.
