Manchester, N.H. (October 22) -- Led by a pair
of goals from Heather Woodward, No. 4 ranked UMass Lowell downed
Saint Anselm by a 4-0 final on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10
Conference play.
The River Hawks got on the board at the 11:18 mark on a score by
Michelle Harrington and made it a 2-0 game at the
half on the 21st goal of the season from Sammy
Macy. Woodward added two goals later, include the third
goal of the game on a penalty stroke, to account for the 4-0 final.
Saint Anselm goalie Riley Haddock (Falmouth,
Maine) made 11 saves in the loss, while Amy
Carbon and Danielle Dodier split time for
the shutout.
Saint Anselm is now 6-11 overall and in the league, while UMass
Lowell now sits at 16-3 overall and is 16-1 in league play. The
Hawks wrap up the regular season Friday afternoon vs. Stonehill,
beginning at 3:30 p.m. The team needs a victory over the Skyhawks
to clinch a postseason berth for the second straight season.
