Manchester, N.H. (October 22) -- On a blustery
Wednesday afternoon, the Saint Anselm men's soccer played to a 0-0
scoreless tie with No. 4 ranked Southern New Hampshire in
Northeast-10 action at Melucci Field.
Shots were nearly even at 15-14 in favor of Southern New
Hampshire, but the Hawks heled an 8-5 advantage in the second half.
Two of those shots came off the foot of Saint Anselm senior
Sam Lamptey (Worcester, Mass.) in the final
minutes of regulation. Lamptey fired one shot at SNHU goalie
Sean Lambert, which was saved. The rebound came
right back to Lamptey, but Lambert blocked that effort out of
bounds to preserve the tie.
Lambert made seven saves in the tie, while Saint Anselm keeper
John Corridan (Holliston, Mass.) made five stops
in the shutout.
The Hawks are now 6-8-2 overall and 4-5-2 in league play, while
Southern N.H. sits at 13-1-3 overall and 9-0-3 in the Northeast-10.
Saint Anselm returns to action on Saturday night as the Hawks
travel to Southern Connecticut for a 7 p.m. start at Jess Dow
Field.
