Colchester, Vt. (October 16) -- After tying the
game late in regulation on a goal by Maddie Cantarow
(Norwood, Mass.), the Saint Anselm field hockey team fell
to Saint Michael's by a 2-1 final in a stroke-off on Thursday
afternoon.
Andrea Slaven scored her 10th goal of the
season at the 40:21 mark of the game to put the Purple Knights up
1-0. The Hawks got on the board late though on an unassisted score
by Cantarow, her third of the season.
Slaven tallied the game winner though in the stroke-off to lift
the Purple Knights to the win and a regular-season sweep of the
Hawks.
Riley Haddock (Falmouth, Maine) made 13 saves
for the Hawks, including six in the overtime periods.
Jordan Smalling made six saves for the victory.
Saint Anselm falls to 6-9 overall and in Northeast-10 play,
while Saint Michael's improves to 8-7 overall and in the league.
Saint Anselm returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting
Bentley beginning at 1 p.m.
