Manchester, N.H. (October 11) -- Amanda
McLean scored 7:34 into overtime as Saint Anselm fell to
American International by a 4-3 final on Saturday afternoon in
Northeast-10 Conference play.
Sam Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) put the Hawks
on the board just 4:15 into the game before Jacki
Lapointe tied the game at 1-1 at the 27:45 mark for AIC.
Ellen O'Neil (Willington, Conn.) opened up
the second-half scoring at 37:15 off an assist from Rowe, but the
Yellow Jackets answered back just over five minutes later on a
score by Linsey Fernandes. Rowe then tallied her
second goal of the contest before Stephanie Laskey
tied the game for the last time with under a minute to go in
regulation.
In the overtime period, AIC had a penalty shot less than a
minute into the extra period, but that was turned aside by Saint
Anselm netminder Riley Haddock (Falmouth, Maine).
McLean did find the back of the net minutes later though for the
victory for the Yellow Jackets.
Saint Anselm falls to 5-8 overall and in Northeast-10 play,
while AIC is now 4-11 overall and 4-10 in the league.
