Yellow Jackets Sting Hawks in Overtime, 4-3

Manchester, N.H. (October 11) -- Amanda McLean scored 7:34 into overtime as Saint Anselm fell to American International by a 4-3 final on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Sam Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) put the Hawks on the board just 4:15 into the game before Jacki Lapointe tied the game at 1-1 at the 27:45 mark for AIC. Ellen O'Neil (Willington, Conn.) opened up the second-half scoring at 37:15 off an assist from Rowe, but the Yellow Jackets answered back just over five minutes later on a score by Linsey Fernandes. Rowe then tallied her second goal of the contest before Stephanie Laskey tied the game for the last time with under a minute to go in regulation.

In the overtime period, AIC had a penalty shot less than a minute into the extra period, but that was turned aside by Saint Anselm netminder Riley Haddock (Falmouth, Maine). McLean did find the back of the net minutes later though for the victory for the Yellow Jackets.

Saint Anselm falls to 5-8 overall and in Northeast-10 play, while AIC is now 4-11 overall and 4-10 in the league.
