Smithfield, R.I. (December 29) -- Fifteen
different players scored for Saint Anselm as the Hawks dismantled
an overmatched NYIT squad by a 78-51 final on Saturday afternoon at
the Bryant Holiday Tournament. The win snaps a two-game losing
streak for the Hawks.
Saint Anselm built a 38-14 halftime lead and led by as many as
39 points with 10:55 remaining in the second half. The Hawks shot
45.6 percent for the game, while NYIT shot 24.1 percent for the
game and just 11.5 percent in the opening period.
Sophomore Carleen Orawsky (Worcester, Mass.)
led the Hawks with 11 points, while Cassandra Loftus
(Nashua, N.H.) was the team's leading rebounder with nine
boards. Senior guard Rachel Reilly (Londonderry,
N.H.) posted a game-high 10 assists in the victory.
Saint Anselm improves to 4-7 overall on the season, while NYIT
drops to 3-8 overall. Saint Anselm is back in action on January 2nd
as the Hawks travel to Stonehill for a 5:30 p.m. start in Easton,
Mass.
