Hawks Fall to Pace, 72-54

Manchester, N.H. (December 15) -- The women's basketball team dropped a 72-54 final to Pace on Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. Pace's Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, N.Y.) led all scoring with 18 points, while Erin Higgins (Mansfield, Mass.) led the Hawks with 13 points.

Higgins made a three-pointer and an early layup to go along with a Carleen Orawsky (Worcester, Mass.) jumper to give the Hawks an early 8-5 lead, but Pace took a 20-17 lead at the 7:05 mark in the first half, thanks to a Taylor Losey (Bristol, Conn.) three, and never relinquished the lead.

The Setters went on an 8-0 run toward the end of the first half capped off by two Klingele free throws, giving Pace a 28-19 lead. The Hawks battled back to within six at the end of the first half thanks to a Rachel Reilly (Londonderry, N.H.) layup with 46 seconds remaining in the half, sending the game into the half 35-29 in favor of the Setters.

The Hawks came back to within three at the 11:50 mark in the second half, as Kirsten Doldoorian (Oxford, Mass.) picked up a rebound and made a layup, making the score 43-40. From there on out, it was all Setters basketball taking a double digit lead with less than seven minutes to play, thanks to four different Setters finishing in double digits.

For the Hawks, Higgins led team scoring with 13 points, while Orawsky picked up 10 points and nine rebounds. Reilly O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) scored 11 points and Cassaundra Thorpe (Portsmouth, N.H.) had 10 points of her own. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-5 overall, 1-5 Northeast-10.

For the Setters, Klingele led all scoring with 18 points. Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, N.Y.) had 15 points, while Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, N.Y.) had 13. Stephanie Rossmy (Staten Island, N.Y.) pulled down 13 rebounds and scored eight points. Losey finished with 11 points. The win improves the Setters to 2-6, 2-4 in conference play.

The Hawks play host to Dominican on Wednesday, with tip-off set for 3 p.m. at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
